AN alliance of three Bolton institutions has launched its new courses focussing on end of life care in the town.

The Bolton Palliative Education Alliance is a partnership between The University of Bolton, Bolton Hospice and Bolton NHS Trust to deliver new courses in palliative and end-of-life care.

A first of their kind for the university, the courses have been launched this month with training being predominately delivered on-site at Bolton Hospice.

Students will learn the skills needed for end-of-life care in a hands on way and have valuable access to a highly skilled clinical environment and professional expertise.

Vicki Guest, Hospice Educator, said: “The alliance for end of life care education in Bolton has got off to a great start with a record number of students enrolling on the end of life care module.

"This is an exciting opportunity to develop our existing workforce further in delivering excellent end of life care to patients and their families.”

The University, in collaboration with Bolton Hospice and Bolton Foundation Trust, is offering the opportunity to study a BSc and a Post Graduate Certificate in Palliative and End of Life Care.

The course provides an opportunity to support and develop skills and knowledge care of individuals with life limiting illnesses and in the delivery of end of life care.

It will also draw on the expertise of clinicians, educationalists, patients and carers, researchers and academics from the field of Palliative and End of Life Care to offer an engaging student experience.
