MEMBERS of the public are being invited to attend a memorial service for nearly 200 people buried in paupers' graves in Horwich.
A new tribute to the 198 people buried in common graves at Ridgmont Cemetery will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 11am.
The town's civic and religious leaders will be in attendance, as well as students from Rivington and Blackrod High School who will provide a musical accompaniment.
A short service will be held to mark renovation work to the site and the unveiling of a new headstone to pay tribute to them.
The public is also being invited to attend and mark the historic event.
