A WOMAN was raped by two men in a "terrifying and violent attack" in a wooded area in Bolton on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old victim was befriended by a group of three men earlier in the day and, after meeting, they purchased alcohol from an off licence and made their way to a wooded area near to Hall Lane.

She reported to police that, once there, two of the men assaulted and raped her.

The victim managed to escape and made her way to St Peter's Way, where she collapsed and was discovered by passing members of the public.

Police were called to the scene at around 9.40pm and have now released CCTV footage of two men they wish to speak to following the incident.

The Bolton News:

The first offender may have been mixed race with olive skin and was around 5ft 6in tall. He was aged in his mid-thirties and had a bald head with dark hair around the back and sides. He was wearing a white jacket, blue jeans and spoke with a Polish accent.

This offender had a tattoo of two angel wings on his shoulder blades and a circular tattoo in the middle of his back. He also had tattoos on his neck protruding out from under his clothing.

The second man was white, around 5ft 8in tall, medium build and had a dark hair style with braids. This offender was aged in his mid-thirties and also spoke with a Polish accent. He was wearing a quarter length peg coat and a blue checked flat cap.

Police would also like to speak to a third man as a witness, who is described as white, 5ft 6in tall, thin build, in his late twenties, with blonde short back and sides. He was wearing a navy or black top with green writing on the front.

Detective Inspector Damian Simpson, from GMP’s serious sexual offences unit, said: “This was a terrifying and violent attack which has left the victim traumatised and we are doing all we can to support her at this difficult time.

“I would like to reassure the public that we are doing everything we can to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.

“I would like to appeal for any witnesses to come forward who may have been in the area at the time or who recognise any of the individuals on the CCTV footage.
