A HOME which cares for people people with dementia in Farnworth has impressed inspectors.

Farnworth Care Home has received a over all good rating from the Care Quality Commission.

It follows an unannounced inspection of the three-storey centre in Church Street on October 21.

Inspectors rated the home good in all areas of effectiveness, care and response, finding it to be well maintained and safe with confident staff.

Its leadership was also praised, with inspectors describing a "culture of openness and transparency within the home".

The report added: "The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. All staff interacted well with the management of the home.

"We saw that people who used the service were treated with dignity and respect and staff attended to their needs in a discreet and sensitive manner.

"People who used the service were very complimentary about the staff and the care they received.

"Visitors told us 'I couldn’t wish for a better place — my relative is treated with respect and with humour'.

"Another visitor told us 'All the staff, from the manager down are so kind, compassionate and caring'.

"Staff told us they experience positive working relationships and felt that management responded well to the needs of staff and to people who used the service. Relatives and staff told us they felt included and consulted with."

Farnworth provides care for 120 adults with more than 100 staff.

Home manager Lisa Marie Astley said: "I've been here three years and we have had a CQC inspection before with a good rating and are pleased to come out as good again.

"It is a big team effort and we have worked hard to do it."
