Curfew for teenage alcohol thief

A WOMAN has been sentenced to a curfew after admitting stealing alcohol worth £284 from a Bolton supermarket.
Bolton magistrates heard how Claire Reid, aged 19, of Nottingham Drive, Halliwell, took the drink from Morrisons on January 10.
She also going equipped to steal with fuel tanks and false number plates on February 3.
Reid was ordered to be electronically tagged and subject to a 9pm to 7am curfew for six weeks.
She was also told she must pay £42 compensation plus £150 prosecution costs.

Cycle thief fined

A THIEF who stole a pedal cycle on April 17 has been fined by magistrates.
George Davies, aged 53, of Bradford Road, Bolton, admitted committing the offence.
He was fined £110 and ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Bike thief jailed

MAGISTRATES have jailed a thief for 10 weeks after hearing how he stole a bicycle whilst subject to two suspended prison sentences.
At Bolton Magistrates' Court Martin Staton, aged 48, of Cecilia Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to stealing the cycle on April 17 and possessing two bags of amphetamine.
The court heard that Staton already has and extensive criminal record, having committed 193 previous offences and had been given suspended jail terms for driving whilst banned and going equipped to steal.

Curfew for man who assaulted three women

A MAN who assaulted three women has been sentenced to a four month curfew.
At Bolton Magistrates' Court Gary Eden, aged 22, of Woodham Walk, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on March 24.
Magistrates ordered that he be electronically tagged and subject to a 7pm to 7am curfew. as well as participating in 25 days of rehabilitation activities.
He was also told he must pay £75 compensation plus £145 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victims or going to Elmbridge Walk, Bolton.

Police assault man fined

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £185 after he admitted assaulting police woman on March 25.
Michael Hill, aged 25, of Mill Hill Street, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Scratch card burglar spared jail

A BURGLAR who stole scratch cards from a Bolton store has been spared jail.
At Bolton Magistrates' Court Derren Cairns, aged 45, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, admitted the theft from Wilkos on Deansgate on April 15.
He was sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, but will be subject to supervision by the probation service for a year and will be electronically tagged during a six month 7pm to 7am curfew.
Cairns was also told he must pay £784 compensation.

Curfew for assault man

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to be electronically tagged after he assaulted a woman.
Gareth Callaghan, aged 24, of Glaisdale Close, Bolton, admitted beating the woman on March 15.
He was sentenced to a six week, 7pm to 7am electronically monitored curfew, must participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities and was ordered to pay £145 in costs and charges.
A restraining order was also made banning him from contacting his victim or going to to Levens Drive, Bolton.

Aftershave thief tagged

AN AFTERSHAVE thief has been sentenced to an electronically tagged curfew by a court.
At Bolton Magistrates' Court Jason Oudomvilay, aged 37, of Lydgate Avenue, Bolton, admitted taking the scent, worth £51, from Debenhams on April 18.
He was already subject to a conditional discharge at the time of the theft.
Magistrates sentenced him to a 7pm to 7am curfew for six months and he must pay £51 compensation plus £170 compensation.

Drink driver banned for a year

A DRINK driver has been banned from holding a licence for 12 months after he was caught behind the wheel of a car on April 1.
At Bolton Magistrates' Court Alan Millar, aged 27, of The Pewfist, Westhoughton, admitted committing the offence in a Fiat Stilo on Swan Lane, Bolton.
In addition to the ban, he was fined £92 and ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Assault man handed restraining order

MAGISTRATES have made a restraining order banning a man from contacting his assault victim.
Kevin Ryan, aged 48, of Manchester Road, Westhoughton, admitted beating Brian Hanaghan on March 31.
At Bolton Magistrates' Court Ryan was fined £115, ordered to pay £100 compensation and must also pay £105 in costs and charges.

Assault man handed suspended sentence

MAGISTRATES have handed a man a suspended prison sentence after he admitted assaulting a woman on April 13.
James Taggart, aged 31, of Duxbury Street, Bolton, had initially denied the offence but then changed his plea to guilty.
He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months and must pay £165 in costs and charges.

Court orders car damage man to pay compensation

A CONDITIONAL discharge for 18 months has been handed to a man after he admitted damaging a car.
Bolton magistrates heard how Jordan Vipond, aged 23, of Tig Fold Road, Farnworth, caused damage, estimated at £100, to a Vauxhall Zafira on March 5.
Vipond was also ordered to pay £100 compensation plus an £85 victim surcharge.

Drink drive pensioner spared jail

A PENSIONER has been spared jail after drinking four times the legal alcohol limit then driving a car.
Bolton magistrates heard how Christopher Perkin, aged 66, of Adrian Road, Bolton, was stopped driving a Vauxhall Zafira on Chorley Old Road on April 2.
Tests revealed he had 138 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving and the court sentenced him to 12 weeks in jail, but suspended it for 12 months, during which he will be supervised by the probation service.
Perkin must also undertake 120 hours of unpaid work and participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities.
He was also banned from holding a driving licence for 32 months and must pay £165 in costs and charges.

Shoplifter electronically tagged

A THIEF has been electronically tagged after admitting stealing electrical goods and razor blades from Asda.
Derek Leach, aged 44, of Rawsthorne Street, Halliwell, pleaded guilty to shoplifting the goods, worth £240, on April 2 and razor blades, valued at £300 on March 31.
Bolton magistrates sentenced him to a three month, 7pm to 7am curfew and he must participate in 10 days of rehabilitation activities.
He must also pay £300 compensation plus £100 in costs and charges.

Motorcyclist banned after drinking

AN UNLICENSED motorcyclist who was caught carelessly riding in Westhoughton was also over the drink drive limit.
Daniel Langstreth, aged 21, of Lee Bank, Westhoughton, was caught committing the offences on an Aprilla motorbike on Hindley Road on April 3.
He pleaded guilty at Bolton Magistrates' Court, was fined £240, banned from holding a licence for 14 months and ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.
