Restrained.

MAGISTRATES imposed a restraining order on a Halliwell man who beat up a woman.

Yasin Adam, of Huntingdon Walk, assaulted his victim by beating on April 13.

The 35-year-old admitted the offence during a hearing on Monday (May 9) at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order through which he must complete 150 hours of unpaid work and 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

Adam was ordered to pay compensation of £200, a victim surcharge of £85 and court costs of £85.

He was made subject to a restraining order that lasts for two years and forbids him from contacting the victim or go to her home.

Jailed.

A 20-YEAR-OLD from Bolton has been jailed for four months.

Luke Aldred, of Hurst Street, Morris Green, took a mobile phone worth £100 and used a bank card with permission belonging to the same woman on April 22.

He admitted theft and making a false representation at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Monday. (May 9) Aldred admitted committing the offences in breach of a suspended sentence imposed by the same court in June last year for the theft from the same victim of a credit card, making a false representation, namely using her credit card to buy a £100 mobile phone, and theft, namely that he withdrew £990 from the same woman's bank account with the credit card.

The court decided to re-sentence Aldred for those original offences by giving him a four weeks' jail.

That term of imprisonment will run on top of the 12-week prison sentence for the most recent offences.

He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and a restraining order was imposed to protect the victim.

Magistrates heard the offences were a "breach of trust" and the victim was "vulnerable".

They noted: "The offence is so serious because it is the third breach of suspended sentence order but he has complied in part with the requirements."

Harassment.

A LITTLE Hulton man has appeared in court for an offence under the Protection from Harassment Act.

Jonathan Bethel, of Wingate Road, was present an address on April 23 that he was banned from visiting.

He admitted breaching a restraining order at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Monday. (May 9) The 59-year-old was given a 12-month conditional discharge.

He must pay a £20 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Baseball bat.

A BASEBALL bat-wielding man has been sentenced.

Leighton Brierley was carrying the wooden implement in Bromwich Street, The Haulgh, where he lives, on May 6.

He admitted possession of an offensive weapon on Monday (May 9) at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Brierley was given a nine-month community order and will have to undertake up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

The 36-year-old was fined £20 and ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Magistrates ordered the bat to be destroyed.

They had been told the defendant had been the victim of a robbery prior to this offence taking place and was carrying it for his own protection.

Texts.

A HALLIWELL man has been sentenced for sending "insulting and offensive" mobile phone messages to a woman.

Anthony Marsden, of Musgrave Gardens, bombarded his victim between March 30 and April 3 with "numerous text messages of an insulting and offensive nature".

He was also discovered with the cannabis when arrested on April 3.

The defendant admitted harassment and possession of cannabis at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Monday. (May 9) He was given a six-month community order that includes a two month long 7am-to-7pm electronically-monitored curfew.

Marsden must also complete up to 20 days of a rehabilitation activity.

The 27-year-old was fined £75 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs of £85.

Driver ban.

A DRINK-DRIVER has been banned from the road for a year.

Sandor Nikolics was given the 12-month disqualification at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The 52-year-old, of St George's Road, near Bolton town centre, admitted drink driving at a hearing on Monday. (May 9) He was caught behind the wheel of a 2001-reg BMW in Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge, on April 8.

Breath tests showed he had 54mg in 100ml of breath against a limit of 35mg.

Nikolics, who also goes by the name Nikolics Sandor, was fined £120 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85.

Motoring.

A 21-YEAR-OLD from Bolton has been sentenced for motoring offences.

Bilal Asmail, of Myrrh Walk, Halliwell, was at illegally at the controls of a W-reg Toyota Avensis in nearby Wolfenden Street on March 16.

He was not present when his case was heard Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on May 6 and he already admitted driving with no insurance and no licence.

Asmail was fined £120 for the first offence and £40 for the second and was given six penalty points.

The defendant, also known as Bilal Abou-Ismail or Bilal Abu-Asmail, must pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.

Harrasment.

A MAN has been ordered to do unpaid work for 150 hours after admitting harassing a woman and making menacing phone calls.

Manchester Magistrates' Court heard how Carl Dolphin, aged 46, of Willows Lane, Deane, made menacing phone calls to the the woman between February 17 and March 17 and, on March 6, sent three harassing text messages to her mother.

In addition to the unpaid work, magistrates made a restraining order banning Dolphin from contacting his victim and going to Linton Walk, Salford or the Salford Royal Hospital.

Shoplifting.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 40 hours unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to two shoplifting offences.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Saul Jones, aged 29, of Bedford Street, Bolton, admitted stealing three portable hard drives worth £155 from Sainsburys on May 10 and two electric razors valued at £200 from Boots on April 21.

The court also ordered Jones to pay £200 compensation.

Harassment.

A MAN who harassed a woman for four months has been jailed for 12 weeks by magistrates.

Husen Patel, aged 26, of Mancroft Avenue, Bolton, denied harassment between June 1 and October 27 last year but was found guilty following a trial at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Magistrates heard how Patel sent the woman numerous text messages, posted a letter through her door on August 12 and contacted her at a cafe.

The court heard that the harassment was particularly severe and involved taking photographs and family members.

In addition to the jail sentence Patel was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim for three years.

Identity.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £660 and banned him from holding a driving licence for six months after he failed to provide police with the identity of a car driver.

Manchester Magistrates' Court heard how Akeel Khan, aged 37, of Warwick Gardens, Bolton, did not give information about the driver of a Volkswagen Golf who was alleged to have committed a road traffic offence.

The case against him was proved in his absence and he was also ordered to pay £151 in costs and charges.

Driving.

A WOMAN has been fined £120 after admitting driving without a licence or insurance.

Manchester Magistrates' Court heard how Elizabet Sztojka, aged 22, of St Helens Road, Bolton, was caught driving an Audi A3 on Deane Church Lane, Bolton, on January 9.

In addition to the fine Sztojka was ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.
