Assault

MAGISTRATES have spared a man prison after he admitted committing an assault.

Bolton Magistrates' Court heard how Mohammad Amin, aged 63, of Settle Street, Bolton, carried out the sustained assault on a male on February 8.

He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

In addition to the sentence, he was ordered to pay £165 in costs and charges.

Drunk

A MAN has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months after admitting being drunk and disorderly.

Bolton magistrates heard how Damian Wynne, aged 29, of no fixed address, committed the offence in Greenfold Avenue, Farnworth, on May 12.

At the time he was already subject to a suspended prison sentence for theft.

As well as the conditional discharge, magistrates ordered him to pay a £20 victim surcharge and the supervision period of his suspended sentence was extended to 14 months.

Fraud

A FRAUDSTER with an 'appalling' criminal record has been jailed for 16 weeks.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Michael Egan, aged 33, of Thornbank East, Deane, pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and fraudulently using a stolen card to buy cigarettes from the Spar shop on Chorley Old Road, Bolton on September 28 last year.

Magistrates jailed him after deciding no other sentence would be appropriate because of his previous offending.

He was also ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Assault

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to undertake 20 days of rehabilitation activity after he was found guilty of assaulting a woman.

Keith McGuiness, aged 55, of Chorley New Road, Lostock, had denied committing the offence on February 14 but was convicted following a trial at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

He was also fined £100, ordered to pay £360 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.
