BOLTON-based boxer Tyson Fury raised a glass with football fans in Nice — splashing out 1,000 euros on a round of drinks for supporters.

Mr Fury arrived in France over the weekend wearing an England football shirt, and wasted no time in getting involved with the fun by purchasing 200 Jagerbombs.

The heavyweight boxer, whose Team Fury gym is based in Halliwell Road, was mobbed as he left the Akathor bar in the city's old town after getting the drinks in.

Fury posed for selfies with fans and sung "Don't take me home, please don't take me home" and donned a Three Lions shirt as he made his way into the city.

Shortly after leaving the bar, he posted a picture of his receipt on Twitter, saying: "This is how much I love my fans, euro 2016, 200 jager bombs, for the the fans."

Mr Fury travelled to Nice ahead of England's match against Iceland in the French Riviera on Monday, with fans of both sides enjoying a sweltering few days on the Cote d'Azur with temperatures hitting 26C.

Mr Fury is no stranger to splashing out, enjoying a 15,000 calorie meal at Nandos in Horwich after his victory over Wladimir Klitschko in November last year.

He purchased 16 double chicken wraps, five corn on the cobs and six portions of chips.

It comes as the boxer announced his world heavyweight re-match with Wladimir Klitschko has been postponed because of an ankle injury.

The 27-year-old was due to face Ukraine's Klitschko in Manchester on July 9, with the WBA, WBO and IBO belts on the line, but Fury has now pulled out on doctor's orders.

In an Instagram video, he said: "I've got a little bit of bad news for you all. About 10 days ago I was running in the Lake District and went over on my ankle, spraining my ankle.

"I've been to the hospital and had X-rays, MRI scans and all that stuff. They've said it's not broken but it's badly sprained and to keep off it for six to seven weeks.

"I've had a second opinion a week later and had the same advice so the fight will be postponed."

Fury upset the odds to become world champion in Dusseldorf last November, handing Klitschko his first defeat in 11 years with a victory on points.
