YOUNG people are enjoying a summer adventure – now school is out.

Schoolchildren have been getting active over the long summer break and that includes taking part in some trampolining fun at Smithills Sports Centre.

Bolton-based Fun4Kids is providing action-packed holiday sessions, including swimming, cycling, nature trails, den building and team building games.

This week, youngsters aged four-to-13-years-old were trying out their bounces, tucks and pikes on the trampoline.

Joanne Walker-Wilton, a qualified swimming teacher, who co-runs the club, said: "Fun4Kids holiday club is great for kids because they aren't stuck inside all day. We do provide some indoor activities such as water safety skills in the pool and trampolining in the hall.

"The rest of the time we take children outside were they work together in activities such as den building, map reading, cycling skills and learning about nature as well as playing different team games.

"So children of different ages and background are mixing with each other. The children learn new skills which inspire confidence. Most of all, they have fun."

She added that throughout the session, children are developing skills such as co-ordination and balance through cycling and staying safe around water, as well as enhancing their problem solving skills through team building challenges.

Mrs Walker-Wilton, who can sign language set up the club with teacher Aisling Dewhurst, to help children get active over the holiday and learn about healthy lifestyles.

Both have experience in working with children with special education needs

The activities, both inside and out, take place at Smithills Sports Centre.
