TODAY we launch a fantastic competition in honour of our Olympic hero Jason Kenny.

We are asking for the borough’s artistic schoolchildren to draw a picture of the Farnworth Flyer – and the two best will each be presented with a new bicycle.

As well as this fabulous prize, the winners will have their drawings put on display in Bolton Library.

Jason cemented his status as a Bolton hero after grabbing three more gold medals at the Rio Olympics and taking his lifetime haul so far to six.

Bolton News Group Editor Ian Savage said: “Jason Kenny is a true Bolton hero. He is a sporting superstar and the fact he is from Farnworth makes him our sporting superstar.

“This competition is a chance for the young people of Bolton to pay their own tributes to the Farnworth Flyer. I am really looking forward to seeing the pictures.”

A selection of the best pictures will be printed in a special Bolton News supplement on November 3.

Your picture can be drawn using paints, coloured pencils or felt-tip pens. You could perhaps draw Jason on his bicycle, with his fiancé Laura or with his haul of medals.

To enter, all you need to do is download the template here:-

Once you have finished your picture, fill in the details on the form and send it to Jason Kenny competition, Editorial Department, The Bolton News, The Wellsprings, Civic Centre, Bolton BL1 1AR. Please include your name, age, address and telephone number.

The competition is open to all primary and secondary school pupils in Bolton and the deadline for sending in pictures is Friday October 14.

A panel of judges – including Ian Savage and Bolton Council leaders – will choose the winners. One winner will be from a primary school and another from a secondary.

They will each win a bicycle from Bolton sports superstore Decathlon, which is sponsoring the competition.
