PARALYMPIAN silver medallist Jonathan Fox will be on hand to ensure visitors to a newly refurbished leisure centre will have a splashing time tomorrow.

He will be joined by Coronation Street star Tisha Merry, for the grand opening of The Health Hub at Sharples, the former Sharples Leisure Centre, which has been refurbished.

Jonathan, a swimmer, and Tisha, who plays Steph Britton, will official open the centre at noon with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The centre in Hill Cot Road, has been closed since July 31 for work to take place.

There will be a range of activities for people to take part in, or just look round the centre.

They include free badminton and table tennis as well as a free public swim from noon until 2pm in the pool which earlier this year was in danger of closing, and the fitness suite will be open between 10am to 2pm.

Bolton Metro and Bolton Artistic Roller Skating will be giving demonstrations.

Also available on the day will be free sports massage taster sessions and personal health checks as well as refreshments.

Bolton Council awarded the hub £400,000 for repairs and maintenance of the centre and was awarded an extra £100,000 towards the costs of running the pool, which residents are being urged to "use it or lose it".
