STAFF and volunteers at Bolton Lads & Girls Club are asking members of the public to support them in an online vote to win £25,000.

The funds would enable the club to continue its delivery of its Youth Inclusion Project (YIP) for 12 months and provide much needed support for 150 young people with disabilities and their families.

The YIP engages and develops children and young people with a range of disabilities and special needs so that they can participate in a variety of activities, seven days per week.

Additional staff and volunteers are on-hand to provide extra one on one support and tailored activities where required, and young people gain new friends, benefit from therapeutic activities, develop independence, and build self-confidence.

The YIP is the only provision of its kind in Bolton and its current funding is due to end in November 2016.

The £25,000 is part of the Aviva Community Fund— run by the global insurance company — and would allow the club to sustain its provision.

If the Youth Inclusion Project receives enough votes, it could be entered into the finals where a judging panel will award the funds.

Chief Executive, Karen Edwards OBE, said: "The Youth Inclusion Project at the club is at the heart of what we do, enabling opportunities for all children and young people, with and without disabilities, to benefit from a range of enriching activities and we are asking the local community to help us continue reach more young people.”

Stanmore Insurance Brokers Ltd nominated Bolton Lads and Girls cub for the possible funding.

Jackie Hyde, director of Stanmore Insurance Brokers, said: "When we became aware of the Aviva Community Fund, we jumped at the opportunity of putting Bolton Lads and Girls Club forward for funding.

"We have been proud patrons of the club for a number of years and are constantly overwhelmed by the work they do for the young people of Bolton.

"It never ceases to amaze me that even within a two mile radius there are families who have to face such challenges just to survive.

"We would strongly recommend the Bolton community support this very worthwhile charity.”

Voting closes on November 18.
