A ROAD rage victim has appealed for drivers who witnessed her being spat at in the face by a bullying motorist to come forward.

The woman, who does not want to be identified for fear of reprisals, is hoping others saw her being assaulted by a man in a black Mercedes at 8.10am on Tuesday on the eastbound carriageway of Manchester Road in Kearsley close to Kearsley Mount Methodist Church.

She said: “I was coming off the Kearsley roundabout going towards Kearsley and I noticed this man behind me pushing his way into traffic and quite a few cars had beeped at him.

“He did the same with me, and nearly hit me. I didn’t let him in.

“There are two lanes that go into one. He was in the right-hand lane, to turn right, and I was in the left-hand lane, to go straight on.

“He was finally let into the correct lane and was behind me.

“He beeped at me and I looked in the rear view mirror he was giving me an obscene gesture. I thought he was going to ram me.

“The traffic lights ahead were on red and the traffic behind was stopped.”

She said the man in the Mercedes got out of his car in stationary traffic and approached the driver’s door of her small white car and, in fear, she locked herself in.

He began shouting and gesturing at her in English and a foreign language over the course of two minutes and swore at her in a racially offensively way.

The woman, who is in her 30s and lives in Bolton, said she lowered her window a little to tell him to go away and he spat in her face through the gap before retreating to his Mercedes.

The victim got out of her car and took a quick photograph of the Mercedes before stopping further along the road and dialling 999.

She said: “He was ranting at me and was a big bloke. He was 6ft 2in tall. He was a bully.

“He was European, possibly Eastern European, and had an accent.

“I was crying while on the phone to police.

“The police rang me back yesterday and asked me if I had any witnesses, but I didn’t have a clue at the time to pull over and ask people who saw it for their details.

“It was morning traffic so everybody was on their way to work.”

A spokesman for GMP confirmed it is being investigated as a racially-related common assault and anyone who witnessed the incident should contact 101 quoting reference 508 of November 8 2016.
