A TRAMPOLINE park has teamed up with sports coaches to launch a fitness programme just for girls.

Tough Girl is being put on by AirVault, based at Wingates, after securing funding from Sportivate Lottery.

The class is described as a fun and social workout for girls aged 11 and over who want to get more active.

It includes cardiovascular and muscular exercises targeted to improve overall fitness and tone the body.

Some combat exercises are also included in the sessions such as punching and kicking – making participants a ‘tough girl’.

The class aims to develop self-confidence and positive frame of mind.

The first class was held earlier this month with more than 25 attending.

The family-run business which was started by former chartered accountant Andrew Caldwell, from Lostock, also puts on sessions for families. Debbie Howarth, operations manager, said: “Our team takes great pride in working as part of the community and we are always looking to offer something new and innovative.

“With recent and ongoing publicity about obesity and child health we were eager to offer a ‘whole family’ approach to health, fitness and well-being — and our new fitness programme was born with the support of our Sportivate bid.

“Tough Girl and Family Fit are our first steps —with even more exciting and new programmes ready to launch in early 2017.”

AirVault has a team of approved sports coaches to teach children from five-years-old.

The new fitness classes are part-funded by Sportivate, a £56 million Lottery funded organisation whose purpose is to give more young people the chance to discover a sport that they love.

Tough Girl runs every Wednesday from 6-7pm and are £3 per session for ages 11-20 and £6 per session for ages 21 and over.

Family Fit runs every Monday from 6-7pm and are £3 per session for ages 11-20 and £6 per session for ages 21+.
