AN inspection by HMIC has rated GMP police force as “good”.
Chief Constable Ian Hopkins is delighted with the news.
He said: “I am pleased with the rating. Having the support of local people is critical to making our communities safer. Both the legitimacy and leadership reports demonstrate the improvements that we have been making to policing in Greater Manchester. There is a significant amount of work under way to ensure we can meet the challenges we face by maximising the use of technology and giving officers and staff the right training and support. The views of people are really important which is why we have started consultation which will inform the creation of a citizen’s contract.
“We still have a lot of work to do and will continue to consider the views of local people as we transform policing.”
