A CAFE has made some tasty changes in the shape of new staff uniforms and signs and introducing a type of ethical coffee.

Workers and volunteers at The Well Coffee Shop at Farnworth Baptist Church in Trafford Street, Farnworth, have been given new aprons and shirts and there are new signs on the side of the building.

Customers will now be enjoying drinks made with the ‘Coffee of Angels’ brand beans provided by the Indigo Valley Coffee Company, a hand-roasted Fairtrade coffee grown exclusively by women in Peru.

All the profits go directly to the women in the community — rather than the men — because it is the women who have the responsibility of budgeting and making spending choices to benefit their family. The Rev John Bradbury said: “We chose this coffee, not just because of its great taste, but because of the story behind it. It fits in so well with our values here at The Well, where we try to support the community in many different ways.”

The coffee shop is open from 10am to 2pm, Tuesday to Friday. Mr Bradbury said: “It is at the heart of everything that we do during the week, providing a warm welcome to all who come through our doors. It provides valuable work experience for volunteers and pleasurable experience for anyone who wants to enjoy good coffee and homemade cakes.”
