COUNCILLORS have welcomed the announcement that a Horwich road in a “poor state of repair” will be resurfaced.

Work on the Chorley-bound section of Scholes Bank, between Chorley New Road and the Horwich boundary, is due to begin today.

It is scheduled to take approximately one week to complete, weather permitting.

Cllr Stephen Pickup, Horwich and Blackrod ward, said: “This section of road between the Crown roundabout and the borough boundary is in a poor state of repair, particularly for a classified ‘A’ road and has deteriorated over recent years.

“I am pleased that Bolton Council has prioritised carrying out these works to maintain Scholes Bank, which is a key route connecting Horwich with Adlington and Chorley.”

Ward representative Cllr Ann Cunliffe said: “I along with local residents and motorists welcome the news that this area will be resurfaced.

“We all realize the short term inconvenience the resurfacing work will create but look forward to the difference it will make on its completion.”
