A MAN has appeared in court charged with two counts of allowing dogs to be dangerously out of control.

Daniel Hennessy, aged 39, of Curzon Road, Halliwell, Bolton, appeared before Bolton Magistrates' Court this morning.

He is also charged with one count of affray and one count of possession of cannabis.

No bail application was made by his solicitor Declan Doherty.

Mr Hennessy, who wore a black T-shirt in the dock, maintained a confident demeanour in court.

However he struggled to answer questions, telling the court he was deaf in one ear and  unable to clearly make out what was being said.

His solicitor, Declan Doherty, largely answered for Mr Hennessy based on his instructions.

Supporters of Mr Hennesy sat in the public gallery during the proceedings.

The Crown was represented by Nicola Yeadon.

He was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Bolton Crown Court on May 2.

Officers were called to Queens Park after reports that five dogs were dangerously out of control.

Emergency services found a woman in her 40s who had been bitten on the hand and a man with bite injuries on his legs.

Greater Manchester Police said armed officers "humanely destroyed" two dogs and seized two more.

The fifth dog has yet to be located.
