MORE than 600 people enjoyed a free film at a pop-up cinema while helping to support a worthy cause.

Over the Easter holidays there was a chance to enjoy a film at the Family Flicks event at Crompton Place.

Youngsters and their families could enjoy animated hits including Moana, Finding Dory, The Secret Life of Pets and Trolls at the shopping centre while there were visits from some of the starring characters and activities for the whole family.

These include the chance to create a Moana-inspired tribal or glitter tattoo and to create a Tiki mask trail with Bolton Chaplaincy to win a chocolate treat.

There was also a Finding Dory hunt around the centre and pet themed facepainting.

Film showings took place in the unit opposite Ernest Jones, with activities and character visits near Subway.

All proceeds from the event went to the Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme.

BYPHS aims to prevent homelessness among young people aged 16 to 25 by providing supported housing that consists of furnished accommodation and tailored packages of support, which include emotional and practical help with all areas of independent living.

Crompton Place centre manager, Paula Wood, said: "We’re thrilled with how popular our Family Flicks pop-up cinema proved to be.

"It was great to see so many smiling, happy faces watch films and take part in the activities that ran alongside the screenings.

"Our Charity of the Year, Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme, also enjoyed a brilliant day. We love putting on activities like this and we’re already planning our next big event.”
