CAR smash victim Curtis Constantine has come out of his coma, his relieved family say.

Mr Constantine, aged 23, is sitting up in his hospital bed and on Wednesday was enjoying the sunshine out in the gardens at Salford Royal Hospital, his dad, Carlton Constantine told The Bolton News.

Curtis, aged 23, of Darwen Road, was brought out of his induced coma by doctors three weeks after the crash in Darwen Road, Bromley Cross, in which he was thrown from a car window into the road.

Mr Constantine said: “He is on the road to recovery. He was sitting on the grass outside at the hospital yesterday. He wants to get home now.”

He added that Curtis’ girlfriend Jessica Booth and six-month-old baby Harley were ‘doing great’ and that Jessica continued to be ‘a rock’ for Curtis and the wider family.

The crash in which Curtis was injured happened on April 8 when he was driving back from Manchester. He hit a minibus hire vehicle, on his side of the road, and then a Renault Clio coming from the other direction in Darwen Road, Bromley Cross.
