EMERGENCY services were called to reports of a 55-year-old man in a collision with a car this afternoon.
The incident happened in Manchester Road, Bolton outside outsourcing firm Serco and a Vauxhall dealership.
The incident caused traffic problems at rush hour, with queues reported to be past Raikes Lane.
The collision is believed to have happened at around 4.30pm.
Bevan Fearon, aged 44, a security worker at Serco, did not see the incident itself but said he saw someone lying in the road with people crowded around them.
He said: "A lady stood by the side of the road noticed a commotion and went to see further."
An eyewitness to the aftermath said a number of staff from Serco left their building to go to the scene and said three ambulances and two police cars attended the incident.
