BOLTON boxing sensation Amir Khan is fronting a TV advertising campaign during Ramadan to raise funds for a children’s charity.

Already an ambassador for Barnardo’s, the former world champion boxer is appearing in a 30-second advert in which he teaches a young person how to box.

The advert asks for people to donate £5 to help the most vulnerable children in the country to become champions.

The advert is airing on several Muslim TV channels throughout the month of Ramadan.

Amir said: “I am delighted to be fronting Barnardo’s new advertising campaign.

“I have seen first-hand the incredible work the charity does and know how important it is for children and young people to get the help and support they so desperately need and deserve.”

Barnardo’s chief executive, Javed Khan, said: “Amir Khan is a great ambassador for Barnardo’s and I’m thrilled he is helping with this advertising campaign.

“Thank you in advance to everyone who donates to Barnardo’s during Ramadan.

“Your generosity means we can continue to help the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK.”

The Muslim Charities Forum has estimated that British Muslims gave around £100 million to charitable causes during the month of Ramadan in 2016.

As well as the advert featuring Amir, an adapted version of Barnardo’s ‘Believe in Me’ campaign advert is being broadcast.

Barnardo’s is the UK’s largest children’s charity supports children who may be suffering from child poverty, sexual exploitation, disability or domestic violence.
