The Bolton restaurateur behind the Spam Allardyce burger is launching a new Mexican eatery.
Franco Sotgiu, is bringing taco restaurant El Taquero to Manchester’s Northern Quarter, together with Solita group co-owner Simon Pogson.
El Taquero ( Spanish for ‘the taco maker') will serve freshly made 100 percent corn tacos and quesadillas using a newly imported press direct from Mexico City.
Signature fillings will include carne asada, pork carnitas, housemade Mexican and numerous vegetarian options.
There will also be tequila cocktail menu and a range of Mexican beers on offer.
The restaurant will be based in the ground floor and basement of the Margolis Building, in Back Turner Street, previously occupied by The Bouncing Czech and Montpellier’s.
Mr Sotgiu said: “We’re confident this new concept will be a genuine first for Manchester. Tacos make a great lunch, snack or dinner and we are confident ours will be the best serving a taco starved Manchester with something it has never seen before. We’re keen to show people how a real taco should be served.”
El Taquero will opens its doors in August.
