A £485,000 scheme to improve roads in Bradshaw and Harwood will start on Saturday and motorists are being warned to expect delays.

Bolton Road, Bradshaw, will be resurfaced from Maple Street to Lea Gate’s junction with Tottington Road, Harwood.

As part of the scheme, Bradshaw Road will also be resurfaced between Bolton Road and The Coppice.

Bolton Council says it will be necessary to temporarily close sections of the road at weekends, and the following restrictions will be in place:

Tottington Road will be closed between Back Longsight North and Lea Gate on July 22, 23, 29 and 30.

Bolton Road and Lea Gate will be closed from Bradshaw Road to Tottington Road on August 5, 6, 12, and 13.

Bradshaw Road will be shut from between Bolton Road and The Coppice on August 19, 20, 26 and 27.

Diversions will be signposted. During other times the roads will remain open, however temporary traffic signals may be in use and motorists are being warned to expect delays.

Cllr David Chadwick said: “We understand that this is going to cause disruption but this work is really needed to improve the condition of these major roads.”
