PEOPLE are being reminded that there will be no trains through Bolton station this Sunday.

Due to improvement work, services are unable to run through the station on Sunday and also on Sunday, July 30, Sunday, August 6 and between August 12 and 27.

It is part of ongoing work to upgrade the Manchester to Preston line and bring an extra platform at the station back into use.

All services will be replaced by buses on Sunday and people are being warned to plan in advance.

The work is part of the £1billion Great North Rail Project which will see faster, electric trains between Manchester and Preston.

Network Rail said that the essential improvement will ensure the station is fit for use for many years to come as the demand on train services increases.

It apologised for the disruption.
