A MUM says she is ‘frightened to death’ that large wagons connected with rail electrification work at Moses Gate could cause a serious accident.
Janine Ellis said that the problem of lorries and vans parking on streets near the railway access point off Ivanhoe Street is getting worse.
Mrs Ellis, aged 40, who lives in Wood Edge Lane Close, told The Bolton News that she fears her 11-year-old daughter, or another young child could be hit by one of the vehicles.
She said: “If an ambulance or fire engine was to come down there they would not get through. I’ve got pictures of big wagons reversing into Wood Edge Close where my daughter plays out on her bike. They won’t see her if they look in the mirrors because they’re too high.”
It’s so frustrating and so annoying. I’m frightened to death of anything happening to the kids.”
Network Rail bosses said they were aware they were working in close proximity with residents and were doing all they could to inform them about the work taking place.
They have also held public information events or residents.
