FIREFIGHTERS jumped to it when a schoolboy got stuck in a lift at a trampoline park.

Bailey Parker, aged 12, was at Jump Extreme, in Trinity Retail Park, when he became trapped between two floors.

The Little Lever School pupil, who suffers a foot disability, struggles to use stairs so took the lift to get from the ground to the first floor, where the café is based.

But what should have been a short upwards trip to get a drink ended up as a job for the fire service when the lift became stuck halfway between destinations.

Firefighters were called after Bailey had been trapped for around 40 minutes and freed him from his ordeal with the help of the park’s maintenance manager.

A short ladder was used to get to the lift and one of the crew rescued the youngster with the aid of special lift keys.

It took the crew about 20 minutes to remove Bailey from the lift once they arrived.

But his mum, Amy Parker, said it had been a nervous wait for the youngster.

She said: “He was quite panicked and he followed all the instructions the staff were trying to give him – pull the emergency stop, push it back in, but nothing worked.”

“The firefighters took the whole glass door off on the first floor and it was about eight feet down to Bailey, one of them jumped down to him one passed the ladder down and he was brought back up to the first floor.

“He was shaken up, obviously but definitely relieved to be out. He said he will never get in a lift again!”

Ms Parker said the firefighters had done a great job.

She said: “They were absolutely excellent, brilliant, I couldn’t fault them at all, they got him up and then let him have his photograph taken with them.”

The mum-of-five also said Jump Extreme staff handled the situation very well and Bailey had been been given a pizza, a slush drink and a free voucher to come back next time.

Andrew Roberts, sales manager at Jump Extreme, said: “We will welcome Bailey back with open arms, that’s why we’ve given him the free voucher.”
