A PROPOSAL to raise Metrolink fares is to be discussed by the region’s leaders on Friday.
Council bosses will be asked to give the nod to an increase in fares to be phased in over three years from January 2018.
The changes are in line with the results of a survey that ran for eight weeks over the summer.
Transport bosses say the increase is required to cover the networks operating costs and the cost of paying for Metrolink’s expansion programme.
Other changes to Metrolink fares to be discussed at the meeting of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) include bringing child fares to 50 per cent of adult fares across the network.
