LOSTOCK AC trio Rob Sharkey, Mark Shuttleworth and Mark Checkley headed to the Thieveley Pike fell race near Burnley and Sharkey was the first club member home.

In what is one of the qualifying races of the Lostock AC fell race championship, starting and finishing near Bacup, Sharkey completed the 4.3-mile route, that has 1,300 feet of ascent, in a time of 42mins 37secs to finish 25th overall and fifth in his age group.

Shuttleworth won the battle of the Marks in a time of 47:25 to finish 71st overall and 13th in his age group, while Checkley was eighth in his age group and 91st overall in 50:58. 

Lostock AC triathlon member Mary White scored a spectacular age group win at the Sandman Triathlon in Anglesey.

White completed the 1k sea swim in 28:08, the 60k bike ride in 2:07:45 and the 10k trail run in 57:35 for an overall time of 3:40:19. White was also the 35th-placed woman as well as an age-group winner.

Elsewhere, David Wilcock headed to the East Lothian coast for the Scottish Half Marathon, which finishes down the iconic home straight of Musselburgh Race Course.

Supporting his son Anthony's attempt to race in every country in Europe, Wilcock senior finished in 2:00:25, while Anthony finished in 1:51:11.

At Bolton parkrun Andy Laycock continued his recovery from injury with another strong run of 24:02 to finish 71st out of a field of 386.
