A BREASTFEEDING charity run ‘by mums for mums’ is to officially launch a health and wellbeing centre.

Families and Babies centre in Tonge Moor Road has undergone huge changes to make it fit to serve the surrounding community.

But the charity, which has its headquarters and two charity shops in Tonge Moor, needs more goods and resources so the health and wellbeing centre can offer a host of initiatives.

It has taken on the ‘mammoth challenge’ of assisting the community with a range of social and wellbeing opportunities and resources – including counselling services – as well as affordable goods and clothing.

The official opening will take place tomorrow, when the Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton, Cllr Roger Hayes and Jaleh Hayes, will cut the ribbon on the new rooms in the presence of invited guests.

Elaine Edwards, chair of trustees at Families and Babies, said: “We made the decision some time ago that since our two shops in Bolton have become a hub for families in many ways.

“Therefore, one of the best ways to help families is to give them as many opportunities as possible to support their social and wellbeing.

“ FAB Health and Well Being Centre is an ambitious project and we are asking fellow Boltonians and local businesses and agencies to make this happen as soon as possible.

She continued: “We are delighted that already we have raised enough funds to move forward especially with the disabled toilet facilities, the affordable hairdressing and beauty rooms and even the renovation of some of the rooms.

"The big project now is get the rooms filled with office furniture, comfy chairs and blinds etcetera.”
