DRIVERS face hour-long delays on the motorway this evening after a crash near a busy junction.
Two lanes have been closed on northbound on the M61 following a collision near junction five.
The crash has also caused delays northbound on the M60 and for traffic travelling on the A666, with people reporting long delays and stand-still traffic.

Highways England has reported that the incident will not be cleared until between 8.30pm and 8.45pm.
Very long delays on the M60 and M61 NB due to RTC at J5 which has blocked live lanes. Recovery is on route. Please avoid the area.

Traffic flow is not expected to return to normal until at least 9.30pm.
No details of the accident have been released but police confirmed that there had been a number of minor collisions in the area, including a collision at junction 5.
An ambulance had attended and a woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
