The scheme will take place overnight to replace the central reservation barrier between Junctions 4 and 5 on the M61 PIC: Google Maps.
THERE are delays on the M61 because of a broken down truck.
Two lanes were blocked southbound between junctions four and three near Farnworth this morning.
Recovery attended and the vehicle has been retrieved.
Lanes two and three were closed but the truck has now been cleared and delays are easing.
Traffic was queuing for around 15 minutes earlier today.
