YOUNG animal lovers went wild for wildlife.

Pupils at St Michael’s CE Primary School in Great Lever showed their support for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) by taking part in the national fundraiser event Wear it Wild by coming in animal-themed costumes. And there was a real buzz in school as they arrived dressed as everything from lions to bees.

Pupils enjoyed a range of class activities linked to the conservation of endangered species.

The whole school had fun supporting the work of the charity.

Headteacher Alison Hart said: “Everyone can make a difference in protecting our incredible wildlife and young people have a key role to play.”

Karen Gates, WWF-UK spokesman, said: “We all know children love animals — and wear it wild is a great way for them to learn about their favourite species.”
