The DJ and telly presenter tells Ella Walker that dill is the devil, and nothing beats a fried egg.

Bolton-born Sara Cox has three children, a love all things organic, and a pretty hectic lifestyle, but she still makes time for home-cooked meals. The former Radio 1 DJ also grew up on her dad's farm, so is particularly interested in animal welfare.

We caught up briefly with the broadcaster to grill her on the truly important stuff...

Your ultimate death-row, last-night-on-earth meal, would be... If I had any appetite at all, a roast organic beef dinner with a Yorkshire pudding and gravy and horseradish — ideally from British Herefords because that's where my dad farms.

The thing you still can't cook is... I'm not very good at baking — so cakes - I've never really been into it. My mum taught me more how to cook a broth than a Victoria sponge; I'm feeling the repercussions. And I'm not very good at pan-frying fish, I seem to leave a lot of the fish in the pan.

You favourite store cupboard essential is... Jalapeno Tabasco, I put it on everything.

The kitchen utensil you absolutely can't live without is... I like my NutriBullet.

If you get hungry late at night, the first snack you'll reach for is... Matzo Cracker — like an A4 sheet of cracker with some butter on, that's lovely.

Preferably your eggs would be... To be healthy, I like a poached egg, but fried really. A nice fried egg with a bit of salt on and some chips.

When it comes to concocting a hangover cure... It used to be eggs Benedict and a bloody Mary when I was in my 20s.

You are incapable of stomaching... Dill, and I don't like truffle.

And your signature dish for wowing at dinner parties is... A plate meat pie, it's the only thing my kids will fight over the scraps of. It's basically meat, flour and fat, mince with a bit of gravy, and a bit of white pepper. The kids love it. Five clean plates at the end of a meal, that's satisfying.
