A POLICE car chase ended in a collision after a vehicle failed to stop for officers.

The car was seen by police in the car park of the Black Dog Inn, in High Street, Belmont, at about 11.30pm on Monday before it sped off down Belmont Road in the direction of Bolton.

About 15 minutes later, the BMW was seen in Belmont Road still heading in the same direction.

When police tried to get the car to stop it failed to do so and police gave chase.

The car eventually slowed down, allowing police to overtake it.

The BMW then collided with the back of the police vehicle in the minor collision near the junction with the Oldhams Estate.

Three people from Bolton were then arrested at the scene.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and was released pending further inquiries and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of theft but was released with no further action.

John Greenwood, aged 30, and of Trentham Close in Farnworth, was arrested and charged with possession of a class A drug, cocaine and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He was bailed to appear at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court on November 23.
