A HOMELESS charity has called for residents to back its efforts for people living on the streets.
Emmaus Bolton is re-launching its ‘Rucksack Project’ - an initiative which sees every day items given directly to those who need them.
Last year, the charity distributed more than 350 rucksacks filled with vital supplies to those living rough, thanks to generous residents who donated bags and hundreds of items.
They also sent out dozens of hygiene packs to homeless day centres.
For this year’s appeal, Emmaus Bolton has asked residents to donate warm clothes, non-perishable foods and toiletries.
Suggestions include hats, gloves, socks, new underwear, coats, sleeping bags and flasks.
Rucksacks and hygiene packs will be distributed during December and January.
