WORK to install new paving in the town centre as part of a £3million scheme has been completed.
The new slabs have been placed in Newport Street in order to make the ‘gateway to the town centre’ more appealing to shoppers.
The revamp also included ongoing changes to the shop fronts down the walkway.
Up to £2million was spent on renovating the frontage and £1 million on improving the street, including the new paving as well as the new seating, street lights and trees.
The Newport Street scheme is tied in with the creation of the new £48million transport interchange in Great Moor Street, which opened its doors in September.
