THOUSANDS of people turned out for a special faith walk to mark the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
The group set off from the Makkah Mosque to walk around Great Lever yesterday afternoon.
The roads were closed at around 1pm as the group walked the streets waving their flags and chanting the prophet’s name
The event is known as one of the biggest of its kind and attracts Muslims from far and wide.
According to people at the event, several attendees had come from as far as Indonesia to take part and the walk also attracted people from parts of Europe.
The event is held regularly every year to celebrate the prophet’s birthday, which began on November 30 and ended on December 1.
