ICE and snow looks set to hit Bolton this weekend.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice and snow for large parts of the West of England to run from five past midnight on Friday to 6pm on Saturday.

The warning covers most of the North-West of England, including Bolton and the rest of Greater Manchester.

Snow showers are being predicted on Friday and icy surfaces are also expected to form, especially overnight.

Snowfall is expected to be of around two to five centimetres but over high ground it could be as much as 20 centimetres.

Strong northwest winds may cause drifting of the snow in places.

Things will start to clear up in the region during Saturday when the heaviest and most frequent snow showers will be restricted to North East Scotland.

People are being warned about roads and railways becoming affected with longer journey times by road, bus and for train services.

Icy patches could also form on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
