WET weather couldn’t dampen the festive spirit as the crowds gathered for Kearsley’s big festive switch-on.
More than 200 people descended on Kearsley Mount Methodist Church car park to see the town’s last surviving mayor, Margaret Rothwell, light up the Christmas tree and star.
There was carol singing led by St Stephen’s School Choir, accompanied by Kearsley Youth Brass Band, while prayers were led by Rev Kim Lafferty.
Everychild received a chocolate selection box from Santa.
