A NAKED man stabbed his friend a number of times while suffering a ‘severe psychotic episode’.
Cyril Magne then turned the blade on himself and both men required hospital treatment.
However, the man he stabbed, Suhal Patel, has stood by him since the incident.
Last month Magne, aged 47 of Aldersyde Street in Great Lever, pleaded guilty to GBH last month and was handed a suspended sentence at Bolton Crown Court yesterday.
The court heard how on July 1 this year, Mr Patel was at home in Aldersyde Street with members of his family at around 6.30pm.
Magne was seen walking up the street naked and he entered the address and began shouting and screaming.
He was eventually calmed down and left but returned soon after.
Mr Patel got Magne away from his family and into the kitchen where he picked up a knife.
The pair went into the garden where they began pushing and shoving.
Magne then stabbed Mr Patel a number of times and bit his ear before stabbing himself.
Mark Friend, defending, said Magne was suffering a 'severe psychotic episode' and does not remember the events.
He has since started getting help and is being supported by family and friends.
Magne was handed a 20 month prison sentence suspended for two years.
