AN opticians helping keep an eye on young children so they stay safe this winter.
Lord Street Primary School in Horwich has been gifted high visibility vests from Specsavers to wear during the morning and afternoon school run.
Pupils were presented with the vests by Martin Booth, store manager at the branch in Crompton Place Shopping Centre.
The donation is part of an initiative by the store and charity partner Brake to increase the safety of local youngsters.
Head teacher Charli Bryant said: “We are delighted with the high visibility vests.
“Safety is extremely important to the school and these vests are essential when we take the children out on trips.
“This time of year is quite challenging because it’s darker and visibility is reduced, so ensuring children can be more easily seen to road users and cars is vital.”
Stephen Waller, director at the Crompton Place store, said they hoped the bright, easily seen vests will help spread the message of the importance of protecting kids, families and everyone else on roads this winter.
The store is also raising awareness of free glasses and eye tests for under 16-year-olds.
