WINE from across the world will be flowing in Bolton this springtime.

Market Place in Bolton will host the town’s first Wine Festival in April further cementing the town's growing reputation as a place to shop, eat and drink.

The festival is designed to appeal to the most discerning of wine connoisseurs to those who enjoy fine wines and who just want to find out more about the drink — and will cater for those who enjoy gins, spirits and beer.

There will be hundreds of different wines — including those from local wineries — to choose from. There will wine tasting and masterclasses as well as entertainment including live music.

The festival will also appeal to those who prefer other tipples as there will also cocktails, gin and beer alongside food on offer.

Matt Farnworth, who is organising the festival, said: "There will wines from all over the world, and many of the wines cannot be bought in supermarkets.

"We also have a specialist gin bar and other drinks so there will be something for everyone."

Cathy Savage, marketing and events manager at Market Place, said: "We are very excited about holding the first ever Wine Festival in Bolton and are looking forward to it.

“It will take place throughout the Market Place and The Vaults, with their businesses there also being a part of it."

The Wine Festival is the latest in a series of events to bring more people into the town.

Mrs Savage said: “Bolton is on the up and up and this is another event we are putting on for people.

"The transport links make it an ideal place to hold a Wine Festival.

"The town is an easy place to reach where people can come into town using different means of public transport which bring them straight into the town centre.”

There will be wine and spirit tasting with people being able to sample and buy it by the glass.

The Wine Festival runs from April 6 to April 7 with tickets on sale now.

Tickets for The Bolton Wine Festival are priced £10 and include wine glass, programme free drink and vouchers.
