AMIR Khan has responded to tabloid rumours surrounding his private life.

Reports about the former world boxing champion surfaced in a number of national newspaper outlets over the weekend.

But the 31-year-old says the rumours are ‘one of those things you have to live with’.

Yesterday, he was back in Bolton to welcome three-year-old Oliver Welch, who suffers from stage four neuroblastoma, to his gym. And when asked whether he wished to comment on the rumours, Khan said: “We all make silly mistakes.

“Sometimes you are just caught in a position, or are caught somewhere where you might be just having a drink and you see someone who takes a picture. That is all it is really.

“My family know the real me, and what I am all about. A lot of stuff that is out there is not really true, but it is what it is. It is one of those things you have to live with when you get a name or a little bit of fame, people always want to put you down.”

Amir is due to return to the ring after two years away when he fights at Liverpool’s Echo Arena in April. It is expected that his opponent will be announced next week.
