THE parents of a beautiful boy who died of a rare liver cancer have called on residents to help with their campaign.

Samantha and Kristian Lancaster have launched The Joshua Lancaster Foundation in their son's name, to 'create magical moments' for families affected by cancer and terminal illness.

Now they have asked residents to wear the colour red at work for their first fundraising appeal.

The 'Go Red For Josh' day has been scheduled for Monday, February 19 — the date Joshua would have celebrated his fourth birthday.

Joshua was just three years old when he was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma. He was the first person in the world for whom the disease was known to have spread to both kidneys.

The brave youngster lost his month-long battle on November 18 last year.

His mum and dad, from Ellenbrook, have now urged supporters to help them help other families.

Mrs Lancaster said: "The Joshua Lancaster Foundation would like to mark this special day by spreading awareness of our cause.

"What better way to do so than by turning the UK red with a wear red to work day.

"We have many workplaces already involved and would like to continue to spread the word. Please contact your office managers, do what you can.

"Let's all #goredforjosh and for all the other children that need our support."

Residents are asked to wear red at work and give a small donation where possible, or to organise bake sales or raffles to help raise money.

An official launch event for the Foundation has also been organised for Saturday, March 10.

Club 147 in Walkden will host the family-friendly night, with live bands, singers and a DJ.

There will also be facepainting, a visiting table magician, raffle and auction, as well as a hot and cold buffet.
