CAMPAIGNERS hoping to stop the building of 1,000 homes and a golf course on the Hulton Park Estate will stage a demonstration for councillors next week.
Members of the Hulton Estate Area Residents Together (HEART) group will meet at the entrance to the estate in Newbrook Road at 9.30am next Thursday, when council planning committee members will be taking part in a site visit.
The committee will be holding a special meeting on March 1 to make a decision on whether to approve Peel Holdings’ plans to develop the historic land.
The property giant wants to build a golf course capable of hosting the 2026 Ryder Cup, as well as build more than 1,000 new houses.
Hundreds of objections against the proposals have been lodged with Bolton Council bosses, with residents raising concerns over the loss of vast swathes of green space and the impact on the area’s infrastructure.
HEART members will also be at the planning committee meeting at Bolton Town Hall, which will be at 10am on Thursday, March 1.
