A BURGLAR has been jailed for 360 days after admitting burglary and theft.

James Pearson appeared at Bolton Crown Court via a video link from Forest Bank prison and pleaded guilty to burglary at a house in Tennyson Road, Farnworth on August 16 last year.

He also admitted stealing pump trucks from a property in Moorside Avenue, Farnworth, the following day.

David Lees, prosecuting, told how 33-year-old Pearson smashed his way into the Tennyson Road house at 9.20am through patio doors while the owner was upstairs and stole a Samsung tablet. The next day, at 9.25am, a woman heard noises outside her Moorside Road home and saw pump trucks, which are normally kept in the shed, beside her fence. Nicholas Ross, defending, said Pearson, of St James Street, Farnworth, is having treatment for drug addiction.

Pearson was previously jailed for other offences and Judge Timothy Stead said he should have sentenced for the burglary and theft at that time, which would not have resulted in a longer term in jail. The new sentence ensures he will be still be released in October.
