TODAY’S photograph shows a group of shoppers at Farnworth Market watching a demonstration back in 1961.
In the sixties and seventies the market was a busy, bustling place and its demise left many local people feeling somewhat bereft.
Thankfully Bolton Market is still a hive of activity as it has been for decades.
But other local markets have long since gone.
