A WOMAN has been banned from keeping animals for two years after she failed to adequately groom her pet

dog.

Bolton magistrates heard how Camila Chwastek, aged 37, of Ashley Avenue, Breightmet, was responsible for a Shih Tzu, named Bella.

But between January 1 and June 23 last year she failed to groom her properly, leading to the animal being exposed to pain, suffering, injury and disease.

The prosecution was brought by animal charity the RSPCA and Chwastek initially denied the offence, which comes under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, but then changed her plea to guilty.

She was fined £200 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £2,100 plus a £30 victim surcharge.

The court also made an order depriving her of Bella and allowing her to be rehomed.
