A HORWICH firm has completed a £750,000 project for a company in Poland.

Chloride Technical and Trading, which is based at the Paragon Business Park, shipped off machinery this weekend to be used in the lead acid battery making process, to long-standing client Polish firm Bielsko-Biała.

Chloride managing director Ian Pinson said: “Continuing with traditions first started in 1964, we have just despatched the final shipment worth £750,000 to Poland.

“At the specific request of the Polish company, Chloride Technical has re-engineered and updated the equipment, which is similar to that first delivered in 1974, to meet its future production plans.”

The machine processes lead ingots into lead oxide powders, which are in turn fitted into battery casings.

Mr Pinson said: “The contract was originally won against fierce European and Asian competition and was added to an already healthy order book. It has also been good for the local economy.”

To that end, Chloride used the services of local engineering companies to complete the order including W A Cooke and Sons, Hargreaves Hamilton and Lostock Electrical Projects in Bolton, Dodd Engineering in Skelmersdale and Pennaire in Ellesmere Port.

Chloride continues to supply battery manufacturing equipment to Eastern Europe, the Middle East and to China.

It is a 100 per cent export-based business.

Mr Pinson added: “With more than 50 years experience, we have developed close links with the world’s leading specialist machinery manufacturers.

“Chloride Technical uses its knowledge of battery making in different parts of the world and the different technologies that are available, to bring together the most appropriate plant and machinery for a particular project.”
